How Altstock works
This page explains where our data comes from, how each figure is classified, and the fixed rules we use to derive prices, valuations and ratios. Our goal is simple: every number on the platform should be traceable to a basis, and clearly labelled for how strongly it is supported.
Data-confidence labels
Wherever a figure matters, we attach a confidence label so you know what stands behind it. These are not ratings, scores or opinions about a company — only a statement about the evidence for that specific datapoint.
Directly supported by a primary source (e.g. a regulatory filing or the company's own disclosure).
Taken from a credible secondary source, or computed from reported financial statements.
Based on market indications — expressions of interest only. Non-binding and non-executable.
Calculated by an Altstock methodology (clearly shown), pending a filed figure.
Source hierarchy
When sources disagree, we prefer the more authoritative one, in this order:
Indicative pricing
An indicative price reflects the levels at which interest has been expressed for a company's unlisted shares — not executed trades, and not a quote you can transact on. It is always labelled Indicative · non-binding · non-executable. Altstock does not match buyers to sellers or settle any dealing; any transaction is arranged and completed directly between the parties, through their own advisers and intermediaries.
Seller and buyer interest shown on a company's pricing panel is drawn only from real sources: a signed-in user's own logged interest, and partner interest that an administrator has reviewed and published (shown anonymously). We do not fabricate market depth.
Valuation & implied valuation
Where we show an implied valuation, it is a transparent calculation: outstanding shares × indicative price. Outstanding shares are taken from the company's shareholding register where available, or derived as paid-up capital ÷ face value. The last official round and its reported valuation are shown alongside, so you can compare the implied figure to a real, dated reference. Implied figures are labelled ESTIMATED.
Financial data & ratios
Reported financials (revenue, EBITDA, PAT, balance-sheet and cash-flow lines) are presented as filed, in ₹ crore, with the financial-year labels from the source. Ratios — P/E, P/B, P/S, ROE, ROCE, D/E, interest coverage, EPS and others — are computed from those reported figures using standard definitions. Per-share ratios require a face value on file; until then they are shown as unavailable rather than estimated. When filed statements are not yet available, summary figures are clearly marked ESTIMATED.
Book value & share count
Book value per share is total equity (net worth) ÷ outstanding shares, to two decimals. We always use the real paid-up-capital and face-value basis for the share count where it is on file, and show the exact calculation on the company's profile so it can be checked.
The Altstock A25
The A25 is an indicative pulse reference that tracks activity across a set of late-stage, widely-followed private companies we cover. It is a directional indicator of private-market momentum, not an investable index or a benchmark, and it carries the same indicative labelling as the rest of the platform. Constituents and coverage are reviewed periodically as companies list, raise or change stage.
Data freshness
Company and market data are refreshed from our sources on each deployment and on a recurring cycle through the day; IPO-pipeline information is fetched periodically from exchange sources. Because private-market data is disclosed irregularly, a figure reflects the most recent disclosure we hold — not a live feed. Where a timestamp is shown, it is the time of the underlying observation or last refresh.
Corrections
If you believe a figure is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will check it against the source and correct it. We prioritise corrections to reported financials, share counts and company identifiers. Write to support@altstock.in with the company and the specific datapoint.
Conflicts & independence
Altstock earns nothing from, and takes no position in, any transaction between users or partners. We do not accept payment to alter a valuation, ranking or figure. Partner-submitted market indications are reviewed before publication and are shown anonymously, with no partner able to promote its own interest to the public view.
